natural born elegance is a collection of limited edition monoproducts designed by Julian Cerruti. Every monoproduct exalts the elegance and diversity of the fabrics of Lanificio Cerruti, the family fabric mill founded in 1881 and run today by design icon Nino Cerruti. For Julian, silhouettes are timeless: it is fabric that drives the evolution of style. natural born elegance monoproducts relate to each other through the quality of the raw materials and tailoring.

Julian’s designs express his unique heritage, one informed by an education at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. By applying unconventional treatments to extravagant fabrics, Julian imbues each monoproduct with the personality of the fabric from which it is made. This type of artisanal design, materials, and craftsmanship necessitates that all monoproducts are limited editions, or in some cases, one of a kind.

natural born elegance is based in Portland, Oregon and Milan, Italy, two global cities that celebrate artisanal craftsmanship. All of our products and fabrics are made in Italy, including at the original Lanificio Cerruti in Biella.

The Monoproducts

The Tie

The Tie is our collection of neckties and bow ties made from the most exceptional Lanificio Cerruti fabrics, including virgin wool and cashmere as well as elaborate blends of noble fibers like cotton, viscose, and mohair. The patterns and colors, from contemporary plaid to vintage military, are drawn from a fabric archive extending more than 130 years. Technical treatments to the fabric add amazing visual and performance properties to many of the ties. Styles include both pre-tied and self-tie bow ties as well as lined, unlined, and skinny neckties. Each tie is one of a kind or part of a limited series.

The Jacket

The Jacket is our reinterpretation of five classic outerwear silhouettes - the basic jacket, the biker jacket, the rain jacket, the sports jacket, and the sweater jacket.

Fabrics range from plush double cashmere made from the prized goats of Mongolia to the finest Australian wool to Sea Island cotton from Barbados.  Technical treatments such as the crocodile pressure print and color and performance treatments infuse the jackets with an artisanal flavor.
